Mike Hicks, Payne Stewart’s former caddy who lives in the Mill Creek community, had set up a “Skins” match for the Monday after the 1999 US Open. The players for the event were Payne Stewart, Freddie Couples, Hal Sutton, and Paul Azinger. As it happened, Payne, in dramatic fashion, won the 1999 US Open with that memorable putt on the 72nd hole. After the victory Payne celebrated at Mike’s house here at Mill Creek and the following day played in the “Skins” match. It was a great day, with approximately 6000 spectators following the match. Mill Creek is proud to announce that we will be hosting the event again this year on Monday, June 16th following the 114th Men’s US Open. It’s going to be a great day to watch some of the best PGA Tour Professionals up close and personal and help raise funds for a great cause!
